Garden Birdwatch

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes.

A happy little Lego Ideas vignette of my mum watching all the different garden birds we’re lucky to have in Scotland.

I designed this little vignette for the Lego Ideas challenge ‘Build Your Hobby’. Sadly, it didn’t make the Fan Vote stage, but thank you to all the people who posted lovely comments. On to the next challenge!

My mum has always been a keen birdwatcher, something she kindly passed on to me and my brother. There’s nothing more relaxing or rewarding than observing our little garden friends.

We’re fortunate in Scotland to have such a great variety of garden birds – daily visitors include: Blue Tit, Yellowhammer, Woodpigeon, Blackbird, Robin and Pied Wagtail.

This 250-part build includes the 3 best ways to help encourage birds into your garden: provide food, water and shelter.

Features

  • Feeder – Tits, sparrows and finches particularly love sunflower seeds.
  • Birdbath – Birds need water for drinking and bathing.
  • Birdhouse – Place for birds to perch, shelter and stay safe.
  • Plants – Acer (Japanese Maple), Pansies, Marigolds (yellow), Tulips (pink), Forget-me-nots (blue) and roses in a window box.
  • Wildlife – Flowers create a buffet and cover for creatures like a ladybird, beetle, bumblebee, frog and earthworm.
  • Equipment – Notepad, pencil, binoculars, cuppae and biscuit provide us with sustenance.
